Good news everyone! Olivier's updated the VU Web Page and confirmed what we already know - this is THE acetate!! It'll not show any changes on the front page but click on 'Studio/Home Recordings' and it'll mention the new CD set we have been listening to..
I'll review disc 1 later as I made a cock up & left out VIF from the tracks I uploaded to the iPod.

They wouldn't turn around & break it
And if anyone played a part
They wouldn't turn around & fake it"

I just wanted to post the same information....jimjim wrote:Good news everyone! Olivier's updated the VU Web Page and confirmed what we already know - this is THE acetate!! damned.... I'm too slow.....
One more question:
Does anyone have coverscans from this bootleg?
Somewhere here in this forum there's a link to a japanese site with pictures, but these are really low-res....
OK, for what it's worth here's what I think we've got:
European Son (original full length mix) - AWESOME - sounds fantastic, with an extra minute+ after the 'plate crash'
The Black Angel's Death Song (orginal mix with different bass line) - I think?
All Tomorrow's Parties (original single voice mix) - what can you say?
I'll Be Your Mirror (original mix with different vocals) - could be a totally different take, but I don't think so.
Heroin (original take) - not mad keen on this version, actually.
Venus in Furs (original take) - ditto. Think they were right to re-record them.
Femme Fatale (original mix with different backing vocals) - nice and high pitched!
I'm Waiting For The Man (original take) - love this one, very menacing, IMHO it does feature piano (but no bass?). Where's Mo?
Run Run Run (original mix) - no vocal overdubs at the end.
Class!

Keep the faith
And what about "There she goes again"???????
It is listed as track 4 on "White Light/White Heat".
This is messed up, isn't it?!
I have made a artwork facsimile.
You can find it at my website http://www.badreputation.de

I might be wrong, but my impression was that the vocal on ATP is not the same one that's on the released "single voice" version.
And I was wrong about "Mirror," I think - I do believe it's the same backing track. It's just mixed very differently (pretty sad when a beat-up mono acetate blows away the legit CD in terms of sound quality... who mixed the Banana album, and what did they use for ears?).
I agree, "Venus," "Man" and "Heroin" are AMAZING to hear - but it's obvious they felt they could do better... and they did.

There's gotta be an easier way...
Maybe only one disc at a time can be uploaded? There's gotta be an easier way...
