I will think it over.....
I'm leaving my neg feedback right now [EDIT! I can't leave feedback! the item has disappeared from the won items in my ebay, and when I searched for it by item # it was there but I couldn't leave feedback - will try again later- by the way lostblues, don't worry about leaving feedback - I think only buyers can leave negatives now)

but - it's not all bad news

an hour ago I walked into a shop and BOUGHT a black vinyl copy for ?11.99 - appropriately the shop is called Sister Ray!
http://www.sisterray.co.uk

I didn't want a green one anyway

Strange. I still could leave feedback. But I know that also sellers still can leave negatives. At least here at the German eBay.
Sister Ray? I know this shop, afaik I bought the Unripened VU&N there. Good idea, simonm! Many thanks.

I downloaded this on March 5 as MP3's, and have listened to it a few times.
Overall sound quality is great. You don't really hear any audience noise. Lead guitar, presumably Sterling, is prominent. The "new" song I'm not a Young Man Anymore is really great. It's got that classic Velvet sound, and they play their asses off. Lyrics seem to be under construction; the phrase "fingers in my pocket" is repeated a lot, and on the next tune, Guess I'm Falling In Love, Lou also has lyrics about stuff in his pocket. But the guitars and playing in general on Young Man are top-notch. The other tunes are all high energy and well played. None qualify as "best versions ever", but all are quite good, and you can tell the band is really pumping. Sister Ray is long and different than what we've heard, but already pretty intense.

I like this MUCH better than Boston Tea Party or Bootlegs Series 1. Right up there with 1969, and Max's. Hoping to hear more from this show, this is a really great find.
(Just found this forum, sorry if this post is out of place)

does anyone have knowledge or thoughts on this? I've been trying to ID the guitars, too. I would say it's Sterling who's louder most of the time, but I think Lou Reed may take a solo, for example, in "I'm Not a Young Man Anymore," around the 4:00 mark. The guitars sound fairly similar and are right on top of each other in the mono mix, so it's hard to tell if one is stepping back for the other one to step forward... I usually think the cutting, bluesy lines are Sterling, and the noisy freak-outs are Lou Reed. For example, on "Run Run Run," mustn't that be him? But the line gets blurred.

has this been written about (generally, not just on this tape) anywhere?

The lyrics to I'm Not A Young Man Anymore, in their entirity, are as follows:

Hey, I'm not a young man anymore
Hey, I'm not a young man anymore
I got five nickles in my pocket
You know that I can get me some more

I guess that must be part of why it was never recorded: it's more of a riff than a song. I love it, but it isn't very developed, either musically or lyrically. On the other hand, you could say the same thing of That's The Story Of My Life!

yup, same with ferryboat bill or hey mr rain. Sometimes it is nice to have a song with minimal lyrics.
"Aw, You shouldn't do that. Don't you know you'll stain the carpet?"
