What about the 12 strings he is using here at the BTP??
i think both lou AND sterl had one of these (Fender Electric XII):gibson343 wrote:When I saw the VU Nov 8 1969 in San Francisco, Lou occasionally played a 12 string. I remember him
playing it for I'm Set Free. He played it a couple of other times. Both he and Sterling played hollow body
guitars, that I assume to be the ones mentioned. They seemed alike. So my ignorance of guitar
types is now exposed.

i don't think lou ever had a 12 string gretsch, hard to see the headstock in the picture:

but i'm sure lou had one of these, and i'm thinking this is probably it (Gibson ES 335-12):

The Gibson indeed. There is a nice pic of the band recording the 3rd album where you can clearly see the guitar.
Re: The Country Gentleman
2 Vibrations mags from 1967/8 showing Lou with guitars are on sale on FleaBay - pics by Jonathan Richmond. I've never seen these originals for sale before, only poor images from copies. Shame the 2 mags bids start at $130 & $120.
