Show business has always been like that, any kind. If these people didn't live intense and rather disordered lives, if their emotions didn't ride them too hard, they wouldn't be able to catch those emotions and project them across the footlights -Chandler

Hope the Matrix tapes are complete without edits.

I'd been assuming that the promo was the "dryer" white label promo, but that's not mono... I'm sure they'll do a good job of remastering the VV and Closet mixes, but all I'm really interested in is a more sympathetic mix of the lost album tracks and as many of the Matrix tracks as I can get.

Well, I really hope there will be some interesting new, unreleased tracks (and I mean 'new' not remixed tracks presented as new). I'm starting to get cynical that studio/demo versions of the dozen or so songs that Lou wrote in late 68/ '69 and performed only on the road (e.g. Over You, It's Just Too Much etc.) will not be on the set after all. But if we get a great sounding set of tracks from the Matrix, well, I'll be mollified for a while
Talking of which does anyone know from the archive if Lou demo'd or made some kind of recording of these songs while a VU member? I wonder if it's simply a case that after all this time (45 years!) they never were laid down on tape, except when played live.
[FYI - I'm talking about Over You, Just Too Much, Follow The Leader, Sweet Bonnie Brown, Lonesome Cowboy (not Bill!), If I Tell, Sweet & 20, Lonely Saturday Night and Move Right In (with vocals)]

Sweet and Twenty wasn't a VU song - different Lewis Reed.

Well, Oliver needs to update his website as he still has it on his 'lost songs' list....Mark wrote:Sweet and Twenty wasn't a VU song - different Lewis Reed.

Who knows what might be in the Lou Reed personal archive...jimjim wrote:Well, I really hope there will be some interesting new, unreleased tracks (and I mean 'new' not remixed tracks presented as new). With regards, your list, I wonder how some of those tracks would have worked outside a live 'jamming' situation. They seemed designed for live performance.
What do you mean by Lonesome Cowboy (not Bill!)?
