Hmm... I always thought that was a folk fingerpicking technique of playing a drone on the bass string with the thumb while playing the melody with the other fingers. It's done all the time.

I disagree with the Morrison attribution, SARS. I think Cale and Reed are the only Velvets singing on Lady Godiva.

Just listened on the MFSL gold disk to make sure. Got to agree with dsulpy on this one, the lines attributed to Morrison by Sars are sung in a pretty obvious Welsh accent.

just to answer Jerome - yes, it's Cale whispering "You're not a girl" repeatedly at the end, it's louder on the mono....

I don't know, man! I'm gonna maintain that unless the end was overdubbed there are three different people singing.
