MFSL = Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab = Mo-Fi

BTW, I agree with citizensmurf, that one shouldn't trade official material.

But isn't what makes part of it sound good the actual gold disc that it's pressed on. Would a cd-r transfer live up to the hype? Either way, one shouldn't trade official material, I don't care if it is better sounding.

I've heard not. The reflective quality of a disc is important, but according to what I've read, gold isn't that big a difference. The true factor is in the quality of the transfer and mastering, which has nothing to do with the disc. That's all in the hands of the engineers. MoFi simply did outstanding work.

I don't know. The MoFi discs are out of print, so I'd call them fair game. As for Bataclan, I think the record companies have a responsibility to consumers to show some concern for quality control. If they're going to screw up a release this bad, I'm all for bringing the material out in it's deserved, corrected form for music fans to enjoy properly. Saying you don't care about the quality of the sound is sending the wrong message to the people accepting our money on these releases.
