Hi I have this old afterhours vhs tape. the warhol segment is a tthe ens of the tape. it'S definetly not south bank, just a short (5m)tv report about Warhol and the factory.
The footage from "making an underground movie" is very short. basically it's the same then on "dancing on the street#7" and on the more recent John Cals docu. If you have one of these there's no need for this old tape.
Groovy - I really don't know. They're straight from Ondrej's site.

Thanks for clearing that up! Is there any indication of what show the clip is taken from?

Not sure if that answers your question, Mark. What I've always been confused by is that fact that this is a silent film with a Velvet Underground soundtrack

Absolutely not in any way whatsoever

My take on it is that the film itself is silent, however Heliczer made tapes that would be played during screenings of the film. For at least some showings, the tape in question would seem to have been taken from the soundtrack of the CBS News report - see the blurb about the Venus In Furs film here.
Some time ago, somebody sent me a copy of a flyer for the Cinematheque which stated that other showings of the film featured "live accompaniment from the Aquarium Orchestra under the direction of Angus Maclise."

Dear Anonymous (and indeed anyone else who has this tape) - I've just, finally, got hold of the Dancing In The Street video with the 30 secs or so of CBS footage in it. The obvious drawback of this video is that it doesn't have the original soundtrack - instead, it seems to be overdubbed with another version of Venus In Furs (possibly from WNET). Does either the Cale version or this Warhol-related clip have the original sound?
