GASP! So this must be the alternate take Sterling mentioned, right? Very nice, but if only it had been a Cale-on-organ outtake of "What Goes On"...

This must mean it was recorded along with "Hey Mr Rain"; why didn't they include it on Another View? Lord knows there was enough space left on the disk...

You couldn't be persuaded to offer us a glimpse as well, could you?

Not even stuff that was believed to have been recorded - such as the first (pre-Atlantic) version of Sad Song. Maybe the situation has changed since then, but I can't help thinking that we'd have heard about it by now if anything new had surfaced...
He's wrong. Somebody 'in the know' (was it Sal?) confirmed some time ago that sales were good enough to warrant further releases. The problem is purely some kind of legal matter. It'll probably eventually come to light that it's to do with publishing and/or song writing credits.
The Quine Tapes sold very well. In fact, they charted on SoundScan for advance orders and stayed there for a respectable while. The issue is as boring as ever - legal hassles between the band's reps and Universal. The hold up has nothing to do with individual band members.

As far as Deluxe 3rd album goes, multi-tracks exist, there are no unknown songs, but there is a version of "Beginning to See the Light" recorded in May 1968 which includes John Cale. ( I recently looked at the proposed track list and it would be pretty nice). Alas.

That May session must be the TTG session that yielded Hey Mr. Rain. I wonder why "Beginning to See the Light" was passed over on not only VU and Another View but also the Peel Slowly box..

Coud be but I think it's more likely the tape just wasn't discovered until after those releases.

Someone "BUMP's" a thread when they want it to return to the top of the list and remind people that the topic is still there.

Based on Sal's revelation that it would have included a May '68 version of Begining To See The Light can we assume that the post WL/WH studio work (Stephanie Says, Hey Mr. Rain, etc) would have been included on the 3rd LP DE? A vintage mix of the studio Guess I'm Falling In Love would be sweet.
