I picked 'em up and have listened to Vol. 1, but no Vol. 2 yet. Weird, but the ones I got were on black vinyl.
The black cover that the titles are printed on is just a square 12"x12" paper insert that covers the
illustration of the young ladies ample backside. Not sure if this was deemed too racy for 2010 or if this
is just a way to differentiate between editions. Vols. 1 & 2 are both gatefold sleeves (albeit each with only
one slot for an LP).
I think the 180 gram vinyl sounds great! Warmer and with a lot more depth (or breadth) to it. I don't have the
original vinyl to compare it with, but I did A/B it with the vanilla 1969 Live cd issue and in the case of the first cut, up against
Live at End Cole. Vinyl blows away the CD. The CD sounds very thin and tinny compared to the LP. Live at End Cole
fared much better in comparison with the vinyl, but I thought the vinyl still won hands down. I would be curious to
hear anyone elses opinion and or signal analysis.

Was your End Cole on Vinyl or one of the cd releases? (CD releases: purple bag; silk box, or "Complete End Cole by Nothing songs)Guest wrote:I picked 'em up and have listened to Vol. 1, but no Vol. 2 yet. Weird, but the ones I got were on black vinyl.

I have the End Cole Ave in the purple stretch sack.(cd)
Re: Live 1969: Good news/bad news
We have some copies in at the record shop i work part time in.... white vinyl. ?25 each which I consider well over the top. I'm quite happy with my old 70s copy.... and the 2 volumes on cd with the extra tracks.
The best live album ever made.... of course!
Sorry I missed out on the Professor tapes.... I think I'm unlikely to listen to 9 hours of any band alas... as I have too much music already/
that is very lame I realise.... but my current aquacrunk fixation takes up most of my time. It was interesting reading the (now deleted?) prof. thread... and nice to see Phil M still on the case... I used to read What Goes On in the 70s.... when I could get hold of it.

any sounds that we feel would detract from the performance has been left in place

.... plus... I expect everyone has seen this.... but another shop just down the road has vinyl copies of The Hilltop Festival boot on XTV .... just come in they said.
The sleeve is based on the poster... but its yellow. I haven't got one yet but will probably pick one up tomorrow... quite reasonable price at ?12 I think it was.

Could you tell me what shop you speak of and if they have a web site? Thanksbradski wrote:.... plus... I expect everyone has seen this.... but another shop just down the road has vinyl copies of The Hilltop Festival boot on XTV .... just come in they said.

FWIW the Doors worked out a deal with Peter Abrhams (sp?) for the masters of the Doors sets he recorded. Same guy that taped the VU there. Of course, if the situation that put all VU archival releases on hold years ago is still in effect it doesn't matter.
