Lou Reed Archive

560540 Tea Party Audition 1967 October

This sounds tantalising. Wonder what's on it?

Overlooked this one before

561439 Velvet Underground in Boston, Massachusetts 1967

Could that be the gig that Warhol filmed? Is this entry the film soundtrack? Or a complete audio recording of the gig?

Aargh, for a second I read LITA instead of LRE and assumed this was the next release in the archive series..

My understanding that LITA will not be doing any VU era stuff in their reissue series

What do you base this upon? It might get complicated licencing wise for sure but I haven't seen them make any kind of statement indicating this

I'd assume that any VU material recorded whilst they were under contract to Verve/MGM will be owned by UMG. Why would they license it to LITA, rather than release it themselves?

WHy would they license it to LITA? For the same reason that Capitol would let Bear Family Records release a 12 disc box of Dean Martin tunes: Capitol isn't interested in doing it...

Maybe you are right, but UMG have been interested in all the other VU releases.

This has been discussed before, like here: viewtopic.php?p=179332#p179332

As I've pointed out, even if you are at the Lincoln Center Library, you cannot listen to this.

Yes, but I couldn't help myself starting a new thread, and I also saw a 1967 Live Boston live tape, that i had not noticed before, which I listed above.
