Re: Little Sister live

There should be a few more (and hopefully we get to hear them) since it's supposedly this tape:

"Audio: tape listed in What Goes On fanzine, Best of 1&2 issue, 15 minutes (incomplete), C+. Status: unconfirmed, uncirculated"

Makes me wonder about the other tapes with the same status.

Re: VU covers

I don't think it's for most people here, but this is probably my favorite VU cover:

Re: The Feelies

I think it sounds like (a tribute to) VU at Max's.. Most songs are played too fast and with the absence of Moe & Cale it sounds pretty straight. It works pretty well on the tracks from that era but not so well on the Cale-era songs IMO. Especially the lead vocal is not up to scratch on the old songs...

Re: The King of New York review

"Indeed, Hermes’s taste for Reed’s music is comparatively square: he cites the third Velvet Underground LP as the band’s best and skims over genuinely innovative deep-fan favourites, such as Lulu, Reed’s final album"

Surely he means deep-fried fans? Or am I missing something?

Re: Sweet Sister Ray

Think the story is that the tape was in the car and she recorded something from the radio over a portion of the tape (Sister ray, Mr Rain (!!) and Venus in Furs except the last few seconds).

Lou supposedly borrowed and returned it (without making a copy one wonders?).

The other side of the mirror bootleg

There's a new bootleg out: https://www.trashwax.com/product/velvet-underground-the-other-side-of-the-mirror-lp-very-ltd-edition-400-copies/ For completists only I would say, considering everything is available elsewhere. It's a bit of a mystery to me why anyone would come up with this in 2023. Nice ...

Re: Little Sister live

Thank you, ms Rayon!! Came across this essay on Nico's first album by Paul Williams where he writes about Little Sister that: "“Little Sister” is either the first song Lou Reed and John Cale wrote together or the first on which Cale requested and received credit. Lou did the words; John did the musi...

Thanks for the input, Mark. I've never seen that Twitter-post before. >Is Klimek still in Cleveland? If so, with Doug Snyder (Columbus 1966) being in the Ohio area as well, maybe it's time for someone to head out there >on >a road trip with a suitcase full of cash... I remember reading here on the f...
